A Trip to Green Hill

(Easy English – A1 Level)

Anna is 24 years old. She lives in a small town with her mother and her little brother. Anna works in a bakery. Every morning, she wakes up at 6:00 a.m. She eats bread and drinks tea. Then she walks to work. She likes her job because she loves bread, cakes, and cookies. She also likes talking to people.

One Monday morning, Anna sees a colorful poster on the bakery door. The poster says:

"Visit Green Hill! A beautiful town with lakes, parks, and friendly people."

Anna smiles. She loves traveling, but she does not travel very often. She thinks, "Maybe I can visit Green Hill this weekend."

After work, Anna goes home. She tells her family about the poster.

"I want to visit Green Hill on Saturday," she says.

Her mother smiles.

"That is a great idea. You work very hard. You need a little vacation."

Her little brother says, "Can I go with you?"

Anna laughs.

"Not this time. Maybe next month."

On Friday evening, Anna packs her backpack. She puts in two T-shirts, one sweater, jeans, a toothbrush, her phone charger, and a small notebook. She also packs a bottle of water and some sandwiches.

On Saturday morning, Anna wakes up early. She takes a bus to Green Hill. The bus ride is two hours long.

Anna sits next to an old woman.

"Good morning," says the woman.

"Good morning," Anna answers.

"Where are you going?"

"I am going to Green Hill."

"Oh! It is a wonderful place."

The woman tells Anna about the parks, the lake, and the famous market.

Anna listens carefully. She is excited.

When the bus arrives, Anna gets off. The weather is sunny. The sky is blue. Birds are singing.

"Wow!" Anna says.

"The town is beautiful."

She walks to a small hotel.

"Hello," says the receptionist.

"Welcome to Green Hill."

"I have a reservation," Anna says.

The receptionist gives Anna the room key.

"Your room is on the second floor."

"Thank you."

The room is small but clean. There is a bed, a desk, a chair, and a window with a nice view.

Anna puts her backpack on the bed.

Then she goes outside.

The first place she visits is the town park.

There are many flowers.

Children are playing.

Families are having picnics.

Some people are reading books.

Others are riding bicycles.

Anna sits on a bench.

She closes her eyes for a minute.

The air is fresh.

She feels happy.

After the park, Anna walks to the lake.

She sees ducks swimming in the water.

A little boy is feeding them.

His father says,

"Do not give them too much bread."

The boy laughs.

Anna takes some pictures with her phone.

She wants to show them to her family later.

At lunchtime, Anna goes to a small restaurant.

A waiter comes to her table.

"Hello! Are you ready to order?"

"Yes, please."

"What would you like?"

"I would like chicken, rice, and a salad."

"And something to drink?"

"A glass of orange juice, please."

The food is delicious.

Anna thanks the waiter.

In the afternoon, she visits the famous market.

There are many colorful shops.

People are selling fruit, vegetables, clothes, books, and handmade gifts.

Anna buys a small blue cup for her mother.

She buys a toy car for her little brother.

She also buys a keychain for herself.

The keychain has a picture of Green Hill.

Later, Anna hears music.

A young man is playing the guitar.

Many people stop to listen.

Anna smiles.

The music is beautiful.

She puts a small coin in the guitar case.

The young man says,

"Thank you!"

"You play very well."

"Thank you very much."

In the evening, Anna returns to the hotel.

She is tired but very happy.

She writes in her notebook.

Today was wonderful.

I visited the park.

I saw the lake.

I ate delicious food.

I bought nice gifts.

Green Hill is a beautiful place.

On Sunday morning, Anna has breakfast at the hotel.

She eats eggs, bread, fruit, and drinks coffee.

Then she decides to visit the town museum.

The museum is small but interesting.

She learns about the history of Green Hill.

She sees old photographs.

She sees old clothes and tools.

One guide says,

"Many people lived here more than one hundred years ago."

Anna enjoys learning new things.

Before leaving town, Anna visits one more café.

She orders a hot chocolate and a piece of chocolate cake.

The cake is soft and sweet.

"It is perfect," she says.

Soon it is time to go home.

Anna takes the afternoon bus.

She looks out the window.

She thinks about her weekend.

She feels relaxed.

She feels grateful.

When she arrives home, her family is waiting.

"Welcome back!" says her mother.

"How was your trip?"

"It was amazing!"

Anna shows the gifts.

Her mother loves the blue cup.

Her little brother is very happy with the toy car.

Anna shows all the pictures on her phone.

Everyone smiles.

That evening, they have dinner together.

Anna tells stories about the park, the lake, the market, the museum, and the friendly people.

Her brother says,

"I want to visit Green Hill one day."

Anna smiles.

"We will go together next time."

Before going to bed, Anna writes one last sentence in her notebook.

Travel is not only about visiting new places. It is also about meeting new people, learning new things, and making happy memories.

She closes the notebook, turns off the light, and falls asleep with a big smile on her face.
